Course Description:
This course is designed to introduce a student to web-conferencing technologies and how these technologies are advancing productivity in the businesses community. This course provides students with a significant hands-on experience using different live online tools, such as video conferencing, video broadcasting, application and browser sharing, online white boarding, voip technologies and Marker techniques in a business setting. Additionally, this course introduces students to the functions of a globally recognized content management system, (CMS) Moodle. They will learn how to design and create their own live online courses. By learning how to use web-conferencing tools and a robust content management system, students will be able to impress most employers with an advanced set of online skills.
60 hour course: 3 semester credits
30 hours lecture, 30 hours lab
Learning objectives:
- The student will learn about several types of telecommunication and web-conferencing products and services currently being used in the business world today. These products and services will focus on, web-conferencing, web-training and telecommuting (web-work from home).

Students will learn how to translate their new skills to the benefit of a potential employer.

Students will learn how they can become better citizens, parents and employees by better understanding how to reduce their own carbon foot print. They will be introduced to the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility, CRS and how it is viewed in the business community.

They will learn how to be an asset in web meetings and create a web training courses through an online content management system.
Outcomes:

The student will be able to teach others how to setup a computer to conduct a web-conference and trouble shoot basic technical problems.

The student will be able to create a live and asynchronous training course in an online course management system. (CMS)

The student will understand how to combine different web-conferencing tools and techniques to meet a variety of different business needs, such as corporate training, teleworking, intra-office business meetings and larger conferences.

The student will be able to create a chart of costs and benefits on web-conferencing techniques that compare web-conferencing alternatives to current business practices.
