High Schools

Quopax's Q-room represents a new model of education for the tech savvy high school students of America. The Q-room is equally beneficial to the public and private high school student of today.

The Q-room live environment is attractive to high school students because it is live, fun and fills their need to connect to peers. The major advantage for teachers and administrtors is accoutability. The format of the Q-room allows for the charting of both a student's academic and emotional progress. A live environment does not allow people to fall between the cracks.

Currently, 33% represents the "best guess" percentage of students who annually drop out of high school. If an asynchronous, "learn anytime, anywhere" distance learning environment was implemented into the nation's high schools Quopax believes that 33% would probably represent the graduation rate.

This opinion, is not intended to denigrate the high schoolers of today it merely acknowledges a realistic view of any child between the ages of 14-18. Even the brightest of America's students require adult guidance, schedules, routines and academic goals. Corroboration of this view comes from a very respectable westcoast institution Stanford University.

This year Stanford upgraded its gifted online high school. The online format they chose was a live synchronous format, similar to the Q-room. The Stanford system allows the students to see and talk to their instructor and fellow students live through streaming audio and video, as does the Q-room. Students and instructors can use a virtual whiteboard just as they would in the typical residential classroom, as does the Q-room environment. Standford's high schoolers are required to attend classes at designated times and complete their work on time on a daily basis. Other advantages available only in a live online environment are; guestspeakers from around the globe; the ability for students to participate in debate with other students in other schools around the country; learn a language from fellow students who are literally in the country the language is natively spoken.
