Who Uses Live Synchronous Distance Learning Environments?

Public and Private High Schools
Public and Private Colleges and Universities
Corporate Training Departments
Consulting and Training Companies
The United States Department of Defense
Governmental agencies, State and Federal

If your organization fits within one of these categories and you are not using the Internet to teach your students or employee in a live synchronous environment, are you falling behind?

Live distance learning is simply a better way to conduct an organization's online learning. It may not be as convenient as the out-of-sight out-of-mind asynchronous systems but it certainly delivers a better end product.

If familiarization with jargon or simply concepts is the end result of a training program then we agree an asynchronous environment is probably a good vehicle. But if real education, real training with qualitative evidence is necessary then nothing beats a live environment. It's the difference between reading about a baseball game in the box scores and actually playing in the game. One you are informed about and the other you experience. Which interaction do you believe has more value in accomplishing an educational goal?
